As Conversational AI continues to become a more significant part of the global economy and the community continues to grow, conferences have become important for building connections between people in the field and advancing AI development. While the COVID-19 pandemic may have disrupted in-person meetups for a few years, AI conferences across North America, South America, and Europe have adapted by offering hybrid and fully-online options for attendees all over the globe.
As we enter into the second half of 2023, many of us are building out our calendars for both this year and the next, and there are plenty of choices when it comes to Conversational AI conferences to incorporate into our schedules. Here are some of the top Conversational AI conferences in 2023 that we’re excited for, as well as a few planned for 2024 that we can’t wait to attend again.
Project Voice | April 22, 2024 | Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA | In-Person
Since its first conference in 2018, Project Voice has been a major player in the field of Conversational AI, boasting attendance numbers in the thousands and featuring dozens of companies that are currently working to expand what Conversational AI is capable of and what benefits it can provide. Project Voice is also somewhat unique for featuring a “Contrarian Speaker” every year in order to provide alternative perspectives on AI developments and technologies—in their own words, “to disrupt the formation of an echochamber.”
Project Voice 2023 was a roaring success in April of this year, and the 2024 event will likely be just as triumphant. While the next conference is still a ways out, Merve Hicock—President and Research Director for Washington, DC’s Center for AI and Digital Policy—is already slated to provide the opening keynote, and there will be tracks built specifically around the automotive, banking, education, healthcare, and hospitality industries, as well as one dedicated to the “Future of Labor.”
ACM Conversational User Interfaces (CUI) | July 19th-21st, 2023 | Eindhoven, The Netherlands | In-Person
Sponsored by SIGCHI and the Association for Computing Machinery, ACM Conversational User Interfaces (CUI) 2023 presents an exciting opportunity for AI professionals around Europe to converse and collaborate with each other regarding current and future human-computer interaction. It is also unique in its primarily academic focus on Conversational AI.
Topics for the 2023 event will include voice user experience, theory development for speech interfaces, advancements in chatbots and Large Language Models (LLMS), and computer speech recognition and synthesis. Planned keynote speeches include a presentation by Professor Effie Law on emotional resilience and trust in customer service chatbots, and a presentation by Professor Catherine Pelachaud on adaptation mechanisms for Socially Interactive Agents.
Ai4 | August 7th-9th, 2023 | Las Vegas, Nevada, USA | In-Person
Ai4 bills itself as “the industry’s leading artificial intelligence conference,” and given that its 2023 edition has more than 100 AI exhibits and over 275 speakers scheduled for a projected attendance of over 2,000, it’s not hard to see why. Focusing on both the progression of machine learning technology and responsible adoption of AI across numerous disciplines, Ai4 should be a marquee event on any U.S.-based AI enthusiast’s schedule.
The 2023 conference will have tracks specialized to various specific industries, in-depth technical tracks focusing on practical applications of AI research and technology, and cross-industry tracks dedicated to providing broad information about AI fundamentals and ethics to a general audience. Previous attendees at Ai4 have included representatives from Apple, General Motors, Tesla, Visa, and dozens of other massive players in massive multinational markets.
Oh, and if you’re going to Ai4 this year, be sure to visit Deepgram at booth #814. We hope to see you there!

World AI Summit | October 11th-12th, 2023 | Amsterdam, The Netherlands | In-Person
As one of the premier places for startups, established industry leaders, and everyone in between to launch new products and explore new business opportunities, the World AI Summit certainly lives up to its title and, arguably, its self-identification as “the only AI Summit in the world that matters.” The 2023 edition of this event already has a veritable who’s-who of C-suites, founders, and bleeding-edge AI experts on tap for its speaking slots, and we’d be remiss not to draw attention to “The Accelerator,” a brand-new networking event for this year designed to maximize connections between innovators and investors.
